Rec Ground

Welcome to our Winter Recreation Ground update.

Well the new playground plan between the club and courts is close to being finalised, we are aiming to have it completed for the summer.

As part of the playground, we would like to incorporate a special paved path from the club rooms to the courts. Each paver is for sale at $40 each. You can add your individual or family name and become part of the history of our Rec ground.

Did you know?

I’m not sure if everyone in the district is aware, BUT, the land that is now the Cherry Gardens Ironbank Recreation Ground was donated to the community by the Chapman Family in the 50’s and is STILL owned by YOU today!!  It’s unique and we want to keep it this way! We are completely non-profit and receive very little assistance from Council. We rely on patronage to our respective clubs to maintain all the facilities and operations. The grounds and courts are never locked, thousands of people utilise the facilities each year. Imagine if it were Council owned, facilities would be locked, just like all other Council Clubs.

Fortunately, we are all as committed to developing our Recreation Ground and maintaining community ownership as Mr Chapman was.

However, being a non-profit is not simple, we are always on the lookout for businesses or members of the general public who would like to provide assistance of any kind. Feel free to give me a call 0417 848 696 if you want more info or you are interested to help out in any way. Finally, don’t forget to drop in for some home style cooking on Thursday nights and support our netball and football teams as we head into finals, everyone is welcome!!

Netball Club

With the 2017 season just over half way through all the teams are playing some competitive netball with all seven of our senior teams sitting in top four positions, and six of our junior teams also in top four positions.  All girls are improving their skills and always exhibiting big smiles when they finish their games (win, lose or draw) with all other teams being competitive and only just out of the finals spots.

We are once again hosting the Hills Netball Association Grand Final (8th Sept) at the Ironbank Cherry Gardens netball grounds. Off the courts, we held a very successful Quiz Night and a Blokes afternoon.
