Letter to the Editor
I’m Karen Hockley and I’m excited to be the SA BEST candidate for Davenport. My background is in business and finance and I hold tertiary qualifications in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration. Through my work with residents and business groups, I’ve developed strong links to the community. I’ve been involved with projects ranging from streetscape improvements and bushfire preparation, prevention and education to promoting economic vibrancy and local jobs and supporting vulnerable people in the community.
I’m a voluntary Board Member with Hills Community Options, a South Australian not for profit specialist disability provider, and I’ve been serving as a Councillor with the City of Mitcham since 2014. I live in Craigburn Farm with my husband, Chris, and our two beautiful boys and I am committed to ensuring that the needs and concerns of ordinary people are heard.
My work in the community has given me a deep understanding of the issues that resonate. As a councillor I have always worked to encourage and support community driven initiatives and advocate on behalf of residents. I will focus on delivering great local infrastructure and services, including a health system driven by patient outcomes, local jobs, well maintained and safe transport networks, including public transport, great schools and lower electricity prices.
I believe our state MP should be responsive to the community and I will always return your calls and answer your emails. I am focussed on genuine community engagement and I am committed to ensuring that the needs and concerns of ordinary people are heard.
I would love to hear from you about your concerns and how I can represent you fully and proactively. Please email me at Karen.Hockley@sabest.org.au, call me on 0423 919 080 or find me on Facebook.
