Cherry Gardens Ironbank Recreation Ground

CGIB Recreation Ground

Most sports had a few weeks off over the summer vacation period and so there was not much activity around at the Rec Ground. That is changing now as all the sports are back with tennis on Wednesday nights and Saturdays and the cricket club join them on Saturdays and we have summer netball on Thursday nights. The football club has also started their pre-season training and so the Rec Ground is now a buzz of activity most days or nights. Thursday night meals are now on so come around to the club and be a part of this community sports facility.

The Recreation Ground committee is holding their AGM on March 21st at the clubrooms starting at 8pm and is looking for new faces to join us. Each sporting club is represented on the committee along with a few other committee members including community reps who oversee the operation of the facility. Local membership of the committee is very important as the Rec Ground is community owned and operated (one of only a handful left in SA) so making sure it is serving the needs of our local community is very important.

The committee is currently planning the use of the funds that we received as part of the Fund My Neighbourhood grant program to extend the kids playground and install fitness equipment for the community to use. If you would like to have a say in the planning and installation of this, come along to one of our meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, or the AGM, both at the Rec Ground.

Cheers,
Matt Smith

IBCG Netball Club

Our summer netball competition has recommenced after the school holidays. Come down to the club on a Thursday night to see the players in action from 4.30pm and stay for a meal. Current ladders are published on our Facebook page. Thanks to our VP Donna Gunn for all of her efforts and enthusiasm for the summer competition, and the various coaches and helpers who assist her each week. By the time you read this, our club will have had our AGM and first trials for the winter competition, which commences in late April 2018. A couple of our regular umpires are away for most/all of the winter season so we are keen for more umpires to assist us on Saturdays.

If you or anyone you know would like to umpire for the club (paid of course) please contact us via the above Facebook page. If you wish to join a team but missed out on trials, please contact ibcg.vicepresident@gmail.com and we will determine if we have space in the grade/age group you require.

Thanks to the community for your continued support of our netball club.
