You are invited to attend this year’s Reconciliation Week event.
Reconciliation Week aims to raise awareness about Reconciliation and invites people to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The National Reconciliation Week 2024 theme, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will – and must – continue.
This year’s event is aimed at bringing the local First Nations community together to celebrate culture and the work that we are all doing towards strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. We do this by working with Neporendi Aboriginal Forum Incorporated and the Elders Group base at Neporendi Aboriginal Community Centre, and with the support of Joining Hands and Minds, a network of local agencies who provide services to the First Nations community.

As a council we are supporting reconciliation through the delivery of our Reconciliation Action Plan 2022-24 (Reflect) and a range of actions across four key areas of Relationships, Respect, Opportunities, and Governance.
This year’s event will have a focus on dance, music, art and craft, cultural activities, guest speakers, First Nations businesses being showcased, and more!
