Detailed feedback received from the community during Phase One of consultation indicated that the section of Main Road (between Black Road to Chandlers Hill Road) is narrow, with many tight curves and has dense vegetation that restricts visibility in some areas. There was a desire for the road surface quality to be improved and safety upgrades, such as road widening and safety barriers, to be made.
Following this consultation, the proposed upgrades for this section of Main Road, include:
Road and curve widening – to provide greater separation between vehicles and cyclists, allow two trucks to safely pass while travelling in opposite directions and improve sight distances.
New road surface – removal of existing surface and replacement with new asphalt to improve skid resistance and road safety.
