Cherry Church
‘I lift up my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel with neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; The Lord will watch over your coming and going for evermore.’
Psalm 121 NIV
This winter, with its higher rainfall, has seen water oozing from hillsides; sent house gutters overflowing; and has made rubber boots mandatory for outside footwear. We can only be grateful for the rain and the regeneration it brings to the environment.
We are surrounded by natural beauty and, often, fail to really appreciate how blessed we are to live in Cherry Gardens.
Creation is a constant reminder of God’s perpetual love for humanity. When Jesus told the crowds that followed Him that God causes the rain to fall on the good and bad alike, He was pointing to a God full of compassion and mercy.
God, as the old hymn puts it, ‘towers o’er the wrecks of time’. So, even though we might fail to see God’s love, He beckons everyone – through the wonders of His creation, as well as through the historic Jesus – to Him.
As the rain rejuvenates our land, may our spirits rise to acknowledge the giver of all good things.
As a place of Christian worship, the Cherry Church and its lively congregation welcomes everyone to drop in. Sunday morning worship is held each week at 9.30 am, followed by a cup of tea. Please come and join us, we’d love to see you.
