Church News
Each year we are pleased to provide the Cherry Gardens Community Carols. Our thanks go to The Cherry Chatter Committee for much needed advertising, The Cherry Gardens Memorial Hall who provide use of the hall free of charge each year, The City of Onkaparinga for their grant. Other supporters who give their time and talents free of charge include: the award winning Sherrahs Family Harmony Band, Tabor Music, Rebekah Nelson, Red Brick Music for the superb sound system, John Penberthy, The Cherry Gardens Men’s Poetry Club and the many volunteers from the Cherry Gardens Uniting Church including the committee, Dianne Dyson, Stephanie Dube and Gillian Marshman, who helped to provide this event for the community. We look forward to providing a similar quality event for the community in December 2020.
Cherry Church and the morning tea room are both air-conditioned and comfortable all year round. We hold Holy Communion during the service, generally on the first Sunday of the month, which will be the 5th of January this month. Everyone is welcome to participate in Holy Communion in the Uniting Church.

Where I grew up in the South-East, I knew my neighbours and most of the people in my country town and many of them went to the local church service. Church was where we shared, fellowshipped and cared for one another. It was the core of the community where help was given when needed. The general store too, was a place of greeting or a chat; somewhere to catch up on local news.
Cherry Gardens doesn’t have a general store, but we certainly do have the Church.
For over 170 years, Cherry Gardens Church has been an integral part of the local community – a centre of fellowship, worship and pastoral care. Situated on Hick Hills Road, it was at one time part of a bustling hub of Cherry Gardens. For many residents it was the centre of their lives. Today, located off the main road, many may not realise it exists. But the Cherry Church is very much alive and active.
We would like to invite the whole community to join with us in a Community Service to be held on 15 March 2020 at 9.30am.
You may never have attended a local church service at Cherry, but you are most welcome to come. Our services are about 1 hour in length and are followed by a shared, delicious morning tea. It would be wonderful to see you at this special service in your community.
Matthew 18:20 “for where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them”
