Rec Ground

AGM on 20 March

The Cherry Gardens / Ironbank Recreation Ground AGM is on Wednesday the 20th March at 7:30pm on site in the clubrooms.

We welcome any members of the Community to come along, get involved and have your say.

The committee consists of a small group of dedicated volunteers who manage the ongoing Operation & Maintenance of the grounds each year.

If you are passionate about the area in which you live and have some ideas for future development, we would sincerely like to hear from you.

Each year we barely break even, costs are always going up and we struggle to maintain our assets.

The last thing we want to do is hand over the grounds to the council or be forced to lock the site and only open for members.

One idea that has been raised is to ask a $50 subscription per family, who are not necessarily members of any Rec Ground Sporting Club, but use the oval for dog walking, tennis or fitness.

This is one suggestion that may come up at the AGM.

As I have mentioned previously, we receive no operational support from the Council, in fact, they charge us to mow the oval and our volunteers have to clean the toilets too!

I like our area and am passionate about maintaining the unique piece of land that we were gifted in the 50’s, but we can’t do it on our own!

See you at the AGM………..??
