Happy New Year....

Welcome everyone to 2019, we trust that everyone had an enjoyable & relaxing festive period. It was good to have a break from cricket, but we're back into the swing of things with some good results already.

Our B Grade had byes the first couple of weeks in ‘19 but notched up a win yesterday thanks to half centuries from Darcy Campbell & Adam Shearwood. Sitting in 3rd position, with a game in hand and most players finally available, a strong finish is looking likely.

The C Grade have won all three of their T20 games after Christmas, cementing their second position on the ladder and almost ensuring they will play Fi.... ‘the F Word’

Onto our Juniors, who go from strength to strength... Both coaches have reported the boys eagerly train on Thursday afternoons and that they listen to feedback provided and try to implement change to be more successful with their cricket. They are all having a lot of fun and really enjoy each others company. They are a credit to the club in how they present themselves in the community. Parents and Caregivers have been a huge help in their support too.

Our Under 14 side have had some mixed results, sitting with 2 wins, 3 losses and a draw but that probably belies their play, as they have the 3rd most runs in the comp and the 4th most wickets. Max Matheson leads the way with the bat with an average of 113 & James How is averaging 5.80 with the ball.

From the Under 12's, Coach Shane says "Improvement has been amazing for a lot of the players from the first match to now. A classic area of improvement is in our bowling- we used to bowl a lot of no balls and wides in the early weeks and are now bowling hardly any. To date our top run scorers for the season are- Hugo Sutton 113, Riley Allison 102, Cameron Wildy 90.

To date our top wicket takers for the season are- James Wissell 11, Riley Allison 8, Finn Baker 6.

Off the field we’ve had a couple of very successful events and the ‘reviews’, albeit self written, can be seen below.

As always, we ask that you support our sponsor, Plumbing & Pipeline Solutions and also help contribute to our fundraising efforts, one of which is mentioned at the bottom of this Newsletter.

Until next time, GO SCIBBIES!

Well bowled....

Earlier in Jan over 40 of the SCIB family enjoyed a fabulous night out at our Bowls Night at Blackwood Bowls Club. With a BBQ dinner cooked by the Adams’ on arrival, the attendees were primed and ready to rock ‘n’ roll. After finding Bowls to their liking, people hit the green and started fine tuning their techniques, against a background of some tunes and a setting sun.

After some fine tuning and practice, it was time for some fun games, all in games with money, free drinks and bragging rights on the line. We held a closest the jack and nearest the edge with all 40 bowling at once and also a closest to the jack bowling the length of the green. It was a poor showing by the guys with girls taking out all 4 of the games. For some fun videos of the games please see them HERE, HERE & HERE

T20 XMAS SHOW

Thanks to everyone who attended the Xmas Show in Dec. We had over 100 people come and enjoy some food & drinks and a couple of great cricket games. The weather held out for us and allowed Santa to surprise the kids. We’ll be sure to hold it again next year after it was so successful.
